Why does my text appear jagged when viewed zoomed-in in Photoshop?
All of a sudden, when I place text in Photoshop and zoom in, it appears all pixelly and aliased. Since text layers in Photoshop are supposed to be vector before they're rasterized, why is it doing this? My anti-aliasing is set to "Sharp." Is this a program setting? This has only been happening the past couple of days, and I don't remember changing any settings. I even restarted Photoshop, but to no avail.
Here are a couple of image examples:

You should be able to see in the first example that my zoom is set to 100% and my text is still (supposedly) vector with the anti-aliasing set to 'sharp'. The second image is zoomed in to 300%.
I really need to be able to zoom in and view the text and layer styles as a vector to tweak minute details of what I'm working on. Any help is appreciated!
Despite a common misconception about Photoshop it is not a vector editor, though it does contain those features. Any vectors in Photoshop are displayed limited to your canvas size, and shows how it's going to be viewed once exported.
Second. Anti-Aliasing is a process to blend into the layers below. At the 300% zoom you can see how it blends in. Without anti-aliasing the text at the top would only be solid black, without any grey. Photoshop will not create additional pixels when zooming in.
Third. If you are building using vectors for print then using illustrator would be the better option, as this is a vector editing program, however effects such as drop shadow will still be a raster, set behind the vector so setting the size before export is important. If it for a website or similar, any changes you make at this size will not be noticed.
See http://www.sketchpad.net/basics1.htm for an explanation of the difference between a vector and a raster.
