Quad core and duo core processor?
I want to get a Pc but I'd appreciate some advice as to what processor to get, quad core q6600 or duo core E6850 3GHz, 4mb cache,1333 fsb.
The main thing I use my Pc is for video editing, pictures, burning movies. it takes about one hour to burn a dvd, Mine is P4 single core 3GHz / Xp pro / 2 GB RAM
I am looking for a very reliable and fast processor for these kind of tasks, You know when I hook my comcorder to the Pc to burn a video, it takes up to 90 minutes to do the job...do you know a time frame that it would take for either quad q6600 or the duo core E6850.
Some say that a quad is slower speed per core, but the catche 8mb which is good...others say that the duo is faster but only 4MB cache and may out perform the quad......so what do you guys think I should go for, which CPU? it's kind of confussing.
I know these two processors cost about the same, Actually I'm thinking of getting it from Dell

I think I'd go for the duo.
It's already a huge improvement over your current single core, giving you the benefits of 2 cores over one.
It has higher clockspeed so the tasks that can not be divided over multiple cores can benefit from the higher speed.
Nothing worse than having 4 relatively slow cores in your computer with only one being used and 3 sitting idle.
With the Duo I think you hit the 'sweet spot' of multi core AND high speed and you don't compromise clockspeed.
