How to put my lens hood over my UV filter?

I have a canon eos rebel t2i with a canon 18-135mm zoom lens on the camera. It has a 67mm uv filter over the lens and also a opteka lens hood over the filter except some of the edges of the picture are black because it picks up parts of the lens filter. I don't know if the filter is sticking out to much or what?
Please help

It would be very unusual for a single filter to cause vignetting. I would guess the Opteka lens hood is the wrong spec for the lens.
You need to get a lens hood designed for the lens - Canon are expensive but others make copies. Just be sure that the one you buy is the one for your lens.
