The color or size of the scratch doesn't really matter, the whole tailgate must be painted anyway. Generally speaking, it cost on average of about $250.00 to $300.00 to refinish one panel. If there are any emblems or lettering on the gate, you'll most likely have to pay for new ones. Sometimes they can be retaped or glued back on, but at most shops it takes more time than it's worth to do that.
