How to set up an 11x17 document?

I have an 11x17 printer and I wanted to create some collages of pictures, but I have no idea how to create an 11x17 document to put the pictures on. I do not have Microsoft Office, I use OpenOffice.

In OpenOffice you would set an 11 × 17 page style.

Just press F11.

The “Styles and Formatting” dialog box will come up. Select the fourth icon on the top line, which is the page styles icon. Make sure the line at the bottom of the window says “All”.

The style of your current page will be highlighted. That will probably be the “Default” style. Right-click it, select “Modify”, and select the “Page” tab. Set the page size to 11 × 17. Make any other changes you want. Then mouse-press “OK'. Press F11 again to close the “Styles and Formatting” dialog box.

If that is the only page style you are using, then that's it. If you are using other page styles, you will have to change their sizes in the same way.

The name of the page style of your current page appears in the status bar at the bottom of the OpenOffice.org window.

OpenOffice.org is more style oriented than Microsoft Office, which does not support page styles.

And don’t worry about changing settings. Any changes you make only effect the current document, unless you save that document as your default template. And even then you can get your original setting back by just deleting that template.

I suggest you scan through the Writer Guide at http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/userguide3/ when you get time.

Thanks for looking at our 11x17 Picture information.
